Spots Feathers and Curly Tails by Nancy Tafuri

What has spots? A cow has spots. What has feathers? A chicken has feathers. Nancy Tafuri, a Caldecott Honor artist and the award-winning creator of many books for young children, including Have You Seen My Duckling?, knows just what questions preschoolers will love to hear—and answer!

One Little Spoonful by Aliki

One little spoonful for your toes, one little spoonful for your nose. A patient mom feeds her baby.
  • Repeat the words of this rhyming game as you feed your child
  • Touch your child's nose, toes, fingers, etc. as they are mentioned
  • Encourage your child to name the body parts and point to them, too

The Hiccuping Hippo by Keith Faulkner

Dog's Colorful Day by Emma Dodd

Dog starts off the day with one black spot on his ear. But it seems that wherever he goes, he runs, rolls, and trots right into colors. As he wanders around town, Dog collects spots made of red jam, blue paint, pink ice cream, and more. When he finally arrives back home, Dog has ten different colored spots. And then it's bath time for this colorful canine, who makes learning colors and numbers easy, messy, and fun!

This is my Garden

This is my garden.
(palm of hand facing up)
I'll rake it with care,
(rake palm with 3 fingers)
and then some flower seeds,
(pretend to plant seeds)
I'll plant there.
The sun will shine,
(circular motion with one hand)
and the rain will fall,
(flutter fingers with one hand)
and my garden will blossom,
and grow straight and tall.
(cup hands and lift upwards like flowers)

Skidamarink a Dink a Dink

Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
I love you in the morning.
And in the afternoon.
I love you in the evening.
And underneath the moon.
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you!
